About MyLocalBuilders.uk

A builder directory that is not selling you to anyone.

MyLocalBuilders.uk lists TrustMark-registered builders across the UK, ranks them by what verified customers say, and lets you contact them directly. Builders pay once for a Verified or Featured listing — there is no subscription and no per-enquiry charge.

How it works

1

Search

Pick the job and your location. We only show builders that actually do that work, not everyone within ten miles.

2

Compare

Published fees, verified reviews, register status and response time side by side.

3

Contact

Message or call the builder directly. We never sell your details or put you into a lead auction.

What we promise

No paid placement in the ranked list

Order is verified reviews, then distance. A featured listing buys a share of a slot that is labelled as featured, above that list; it never changes the organic order. A Featured firm not in today's slot sits in the list where its reviews place it.

Register-checked before it goes live

Before a listing goes live, it is matched to an active company at Companies House; firms from TrustMark are also matched to its register. Each listing shows the register we checked it against and when. Until a firm claims its listing it is marked "Registered company, not yet verified".

Verified reviews only

A review is held, not published, until we have confirmed the reviewer was a customer. Builders cannot edit or remove reviews.

Your details stay yours

An enquiry goes to the one builder you chose and to no other builder. No lead selling, no follow-up calls from strangers.

What is MyLocalBuilders?

MyLocalBuilders.uk is a UK directory of building firms for homeowners planning an extension, a loft conversion, a renovation, a new roof or work outside the house. You search by the job and your town or postcode, compare builders on their register status and verified customer reviews, and contact the one you choose directly. It is free for homeowners. We are not a builder, and we take no share of any job.

Where do the listings come from?

From public registers. Firms come from the Companies House register (company name and number, registered office, industry codes and status) and, for firms collected in October 2026, from the TrustMark find-a-tradesperson directory. We never collect details of directors, owners or other people.

Before we show a firm taken from Companies House, we send it a privacy notice (by email where we hold the company's email address, otherwise by post) saying what we hold and how to claim or remove the listing, and we wait at least 14 days. Until a firm claims its listing we show only its town and the first part of its postcode, never its full address. The full rules are in our directory data policy.

How do you check a builder?

Before a listing goes live, it is matched to an active company at Companies House; firms from TrustMark are also matched to its register. Each listing shows the register we checked it against and when. TrustMark describes itself as the Government Endorsed Quality Scheme for work in or around the home, with registered businesses vetted and monitored by its scheme providers (TrustMark). Companies House lets anyone see a company's registered address, incorporation date and officers for free (GOV.UK), so you can repeat that check yourself.

A firm that has not claimed its listing is marked "Registered company, not yet verified". Once the register sync finds a company dissolved or closed at Companies House, we hide its listing.

We do not inspect builders' work or visit their jobs. Our checks are against public registers, so treat them as a first filter and confirm any scheme membership on the scheme's own website before you hire. Our guide on how to hire a builder lists the other checks worth doing.

How do reviews work?

A review is not published when it is sent. It is held until we have confirmed the reviewer was a customer, and a builder cannot edit or remove it. We do not remove reviews for being negative. A builder who pays, discounts or offers anything in exchange for a review is delisted for 12 months. Read the full review policy.

How does the site make money?

From builders, never from homeowners. A builder can pay once for a verified listing or a featured listing, as set out on our pricing page. There is no subscription and no charge per enquiry, and we do not sell homeowners' details to anyone. Paying never moves a builder up the ranked list, which is ordered by verified review score over the last twelve months, then distance.

Who can you contact?

Homeowners, builders and anyone who spots a listing or review that breaks our rules can reach us through the contact page. A builder who wants a listing removed can do it at mylocalbuilders.uk/remove with the code from our privacy notice.

About us: questions people ask

Is MyLocalBuilders independent?

We are a directory, not a builder. We do not quote for or carry out building work, we take no share of any job, and no builder can pay to rank higher in the list.

Do you vet the builders you list?

Before a listing goes live, it is matched to an active company at Companies House; firms from TrustMark are also matched to its register. We do not inspect work, so confirm memberships and insurance yourself before you hire.

How can a builder remove their listing?

At mylocalbuilders.uk/remove with the code from our privacy notice, or by emailing us with the company number. We then delete the firm's details and keep only the company number so it is never added again.

What should I do if a review breaks the rules?

Report it through the contact page, choosing "A listing or review breaks the rules", and say which review and why. We will look into it.
